COVID 19 Operational Safety Plan/Guide and Facility Updates
The HERO center has taken additional recommended steps to keep our public safety customers safe during these challenging times. Under the guidance of the MN Department of Health, the CDC and the cities of Woodbury and Cottage Grove’s COVID-19 EOC group(s) we have implemented a safety plan & guide for review prior to using the HERO center. This guide is intended to help maintain a safe training environment while at the HERO center under MN Governor Walz’s Executive Order(s): 20-48 & 20-56.
Under Walz’s Executive Order: 20-48, the following guidelines and clarification was added as outlined below:
•Workers and attendees at skills training for the state’s Professional Peace Officer Education (PPOE) providers, where such training cannot be given remotely and provided that social distancing and other mitigation strategies are employed. The HERO center is an official educational provider under the MN state’s Professional Peace Officer Education (PPOE) through the MN POST board.
• Workers supporting indoor gun or shooting ranges when providing qualification shooting or skills maintenance to licensed Minnesota peace officers, law enforcement officers, and federally sworn law enforcement officers assigned to work within the state of Minnesota, provided that social distancing and other mitigation strategies are employed.
• Evaluators and firefighters at skills training, including evaluation for the state’s firefighter Certification Testing, where such evaluations cannot be given remotely and provided that social distancing and other mitigation strategies are employed.
Under Governer Walz’s new Executive Order 20-56 (Effective 5/17/2020 – 5/31/2020):
7. Workers and businesses. Workers and businesses are subject to the requirements set forth below.
d. Critical Businesses. Businesses whose workers qualified for a Critical Sector
exemption under paragraph 6 of Executive Order 20-48 may continue to
operate in the same manner as provided in Executive Order 20-48.
The shooting range IS OPEN to law enforcement agencies for use under Executive Order(s) 20-48 & 20-56.
The shooting range IS OPEN to the PUBLIC effective June 13, 2020. We will be following some restricted guidelinesand have implemented an online reservation system to prevent waiting in the lobby area. All lane reservations should be done online, however walk-ins are allowed, but based on lane availability.
